I found “cub”‘s explanation weird too. Let’s take the seven dwarfs from Disney’s Snow White and imagine them as furries while keeping their proportions, white hair and beards (N/A to Dopey). By this definition, they are cubs, but “cub” implies “young” which they obviously are not (except Dopey).
Sorry, I can’t remember any short elderly furries.
Unrelated, but, Dillocircus, are you the only active staff member during these two weeks? I was going to ask how art link verification works step-by-step (I can be slow at times) and if I had to wait for Pup to get my art links verified, but I found it explained on a Derpibooru thread, and I guess you can verify?

So “kid” has this explanation: A human shota or loli. For cubs, don’t use this tag. Okay.
The entire set of tags related to age/child/cub is a bit of a hot mess and I do want to ask Pup (the admin/owner) to draw some clear guideliens decisions for why in the upload tag list the tag indicated is “child”, a tag that is aliased to young (?!) while the site seems to be using “kid” instead, and the distinction between that and “cub” are poor at best. Also “cub” is used for the generic tags like adult/cub, adding to the confusion.
However, Pup is incommunicado for almost three weeks now.

I noticed something odd with the way implications work.
So “kid” has this explanation: A human shota or loli. For cubs, don’t use this tag. Okay.
BUT, it’s implied by “solo kid”, which is implied by “solo boy”. However “boy” has the explanation A young/cute looking male. No mention of species here, and we already have “shotacon” for young human males… So here we have this situation where adding the species-neutral “solo boy” adds “solo kid” and “kid”, even though those are meant for humans only… Right?

I read the following in the rules:
Can I add any tag I want to images?
No. Tags must accurately reflect the image. Adding random, nonsensical, or irrelevant tags to an image, as well as removing valid tags from an image, is considered tag vandalism and if done intentionally will result in a ban even if it’s your own upload. You will get a warning before action is taken depending on the circumstances.
A furry-focused site is bound to have fictional species that are user-made, so I think any such species should be tagged simply “fictional species” and not by their own names which… could be seen as falling into that description? Do you only allow names for well-known species, e.g. protogens and dutch angel dragons (I had to look up the others, though some felt familiar)? I will clean up my own uploads if needed!

There’s no official thread for implication requests, but there’s no harm in making this one for now, right? I’ll use an arrow to mean “implies”.
Upd: when I think about it, I’m not sure I understand how major tags like “boy”, “cub”, etc. are meant to be used here, when considering the character’s species, physical appearance, anthropomorphism level and canonical age (last part mainly concerns copyrighted characters) @_@
open smile —> open mouth, smiling
twink —> male
shotacon —> boy
lolicon —> girl, human
humans only —> human, not furry
pokemon (species), digimon (species) —> fictional species
I noticed “pokemon” and “pokemon (species)” are aliased, however this means that human-only pictures fall under the aliased tag if there’s a human from the Pokemon series and no actual Pokemon… does that make sense?
Edit: I can’t remember if what I said was true, or these tags are now separate?

any piercing related tag (I know these: ear piercing, ring piercing, nipple piercing, navel piercing, genital piercing, penis piercing) —> piercing

When I fetch an artwork from E621/Derpibooru and there’s at least one source link, I check them all, and if I find a dead source (removed by the artist, removed due to changes in what is or isn’t allowed, etc.), I remove it when posting it here.
But one time I ran into this situation. There was a picture on this site showing a few young characters, most of them were humans and one was a furry with VERY humanoid proportions (I mistook them for a kemonomimi at first). I checked the source links, and one of them led to a page on E621, which had only the tags and comments, but not the actual picture which had been removed as they no longer allow NSFW content with young humans. What should we do? Remove the link, or tag “dead source”?

That’s because when it started (I was there, Gandalf), it literally only used those tags and those only. And they started tagging more basically much later, and only because the pressure of e621’s growing influence. I have no idea what the actual tagging policy is over there nowadays.
That being said, technically the minimum amount of tags on e621 is, like, 10? Because the mods only really care about the the tags being present being accurate, you’d be surprised what people forget/omit to actually tag.

Fair enough… I also agree on the “Zootopia poster in the background” thing. I look up a mostly dormant franchise tag on another website, and when I saw there was something new, it was a drawing of a random woman with huge boobs where a character from the said franchise is used merely as a decoration. Or I looked up another franchise, and the characters from that franchise were used as a print for an anime girl’s panties. I was just like “you gotta be kidding”.
Since I found something on Rule 34 Paheal that got accepted here: that site has the opposite problem. Their tagging is barebones, often including only franchises, characters and artists, which makes the search for “desirable” art more difficult.

The answer is mostly a mixture of “we need to properly establish policy and right this moment the site owner isn’t around enough for that” and “we’re only fuckin’ humans, okay?”
And also do you have any idea how much work cleaning up the e621 senseless hyperactive tagging actually is? We can’t just ban or alias all the high-order tags we don’t like such as, say “electronics” or “furniture”, because there are pics where such tags are relevant (though not that many), but we otherwise don’t want them on every gotdam pic with a random television or a cell phone in it, and there lies the problem (similarly with tags for the basic body parts like “fingers” or “genitals”).

I’ve noticed the lack of transparency on what tags are considered unwanted. I tag “simple background” on a bunch of images, then I find it removed on another.
At least I haven’t run into stuff like “crappy art” and “op is trying to start shit” (hello, Derpibooru).

It’s quiet here for now, but Rule #4 is one of the most frequently broken rules on Derpibooru from my observation.
Filters are great, but they only work when the content is tagged properly, and I’ve seen some AI-generated imagery not tagged as AI. Most artists are strongly against AI for a good reason and this matter should be taken more seriously.
ALso, the supposed link to the rules sends me to the main page, I guess it’s because it’s outdated.

FurAffinity, E621 and the like are already a thing for general furry art, and sites that try to appeal to broad audiences tend to push “taboo” stuff away. I don’t mind pictures with only adult characters, but I’d like cub/chibi/femboy focus.
[…] banning cub, which e621 is close to doing
Wait, what?

Honestly, I agree that most notably cub/chibi/child/boy/girl/shota/loli tagset basically is completely redundant to each others in practical use (like, “child” is aliased to “young”, so I can’t even use adult/cub to mean “cub-as-defined-here” because there’s also a completely different set of tags for man/boy etc.), but I’m reliant on Pup for any final decision on how to do tags and that’s what I gotta go with (e.g. his hardline stance that pokemon and digimon should absolutely not be tagged with any general species tags). I do wish he’s take the time to try and clarify what the general tagging policy is (my rule of thumb has been “tag what’s central, respect formal lore, be general otherwise, don’t cross-pollinate between tags”)

I’ve just run into a limit on how many tag edits I can make. I didn’t know this was a thing and I don’t know when I can change tags again. I assume this limit is a way to reduce tag vandalism. Most of my recent tag editing was adding “ai generated” to robotsmademedoit’s images.
Soon after I thought kemonomimis needed to be tagged “not furry” (more than half of them are already tagged), but due to the limit I can’t do so at the time.

Is this thread still in use?
I noticed some tags related to colouration are not retained, though I saw some older uploads having them. It caught me off guard. Are they not allowed because they’re considered redundant here?
On Furbooru I found the tag invalid tag, which gets “undesirable” tags aliased to it, usually ones that are useless, redundant or derogatory.
I do agree E621’s tags are overly complicated. Just reading what’s been copied when fetching gives me a headache.

I discovered this site after someone told me about it on Inkbunny. I already knew about several Philomena based Boorus (all except Furbooru were for MLP though), and I did a bit of tagging on Derpibooru, so I already had partial idea on how to use this site, but I’m still trying to grasp the age rating criterias (sorry if I said something silly in a report). Out of different Booru formats I’ve seen, I think Philomena is the best, but I don’t have either website making knowledge or stable income. There was a point where I hosted a couple of Boorus on booru.plus, but it’s gone without a trace and I never had a chance to make a Booru for free again. I’ve seen a few Boorus that were shut down and one seemingly abandoned by its only dev.
I know this site is new, but I think it has potential, and it has advantages over other platforms. What issues I have with those:
  • Pixiv: genitals and penetrations must be censored, linking to uncensored content is not allowed (guess how I got suspended there…)
  • Inkbunny: human porn is not allowed (if you completely censor the human sensitive body parts/penetrations it seems to pass)
  • Baraag, Aethy: they are lenient, but very uncomfortable to use if you look for art, the format is not finetuned for image browsing; Media pages on Baraag are basically walls of spoilers (I understand why it’s like this, but without an account it’s just annoying)
  • X: bad format like Baraag and Aethy, not lolisho/cub friendly (I may or may not have had my original account on there suspended because I didn’t think a short slender cartoon man would be considered shota… or maybe I wrestled with a VPN for way too long, I don’t know to this day)
  • DeviantArt: porn is not allowed
  • FurAffinity: lolisho/cub is not allowed
  • Tumblr: porn is not allowed, the users tend to be puritan and of the “fiction = reality” mindset
  • Rule 34 XXX, Rule 34 Paheal: lolisho is not allowed (cubs are ok)
  • Danbooru: doesn’t prohibit but apparently has a higher chance of removing extreme kink and explicit furry content
  • E621: human-only is not allowed (except for pages from furry-centric comics), lolisho is not allowed (cub seems okay?)
It feels quiet here, it would be nice to have more users, whether they draw or just share others’ art.

Yeah, I noticed the Pixiv thing too, though I chose not to bother Pup, as they seem to be quite busy otherwise. I think the animation thing is because animations on Pixiv are literally not animation files, but instead separate images for each frame with a JavaScript cycling them.
A useful trick is to copy the image (not save, literally right-click → copy image), because you can then paste it directly into https://saucenao.com/ and use it to check whether the image has been uploaded to e621/rule34, and then possibly upload from there instead.

Today I tried fetching some art from Pixiv, but it didn’t work despite it’s written that it should, so I had to save it to my PC and upload it from there.
I also found an animation I thought I’d repost, but Pixiv doesn’t provide any means to download animations. When I try to save it via right mouse click like I do with static images, it just… becomes static. I found some Chrome extension (I normally use Firefox), which allows to save GIFs and WEBMs, and it works, but I ran into another problem. While in Firefox the animation looks fine, in Chrome it’s too dark, and it remains like this even when I save it to my PC. I looked through the artist’s gallery and it was the only animation affected by this glitch.

I checked the Contact page, but I would rather not use either option there for personal reasons.

I never heard the terms “andromorph” and “gynomorph” before looking through E621’s tags.
I’m against “trans male” and “trans female” because yes, these mean gender identities, while Boorus follow the principle of “tag what you SEE”. E621 has tags for trans characters, but they have “lore” added to them, and they prioritise “andromorph” and “gynomorph” over trans tags. People come to a Booru for the characters’ bodies, not what the creators want to be in these characters’ minds.
