Toontown Online was a free-to-play Disney MMORPG where players controlled toons (cartoon animals) and fought cogs (robots) that were trying to take over Toontown. They used gags to attack and stun cogs and heal other toons. Because this was a MMORPG, some tasks were difficult to impossible to complete solo.
I found out about the game way too late, it had already been shut down in 2013… which is probably a good thing, because since then the fans made various revivals, and they’re completely free. IMO the only ones worth mentioning are Toontown Rewritten and Toontown: Corporate Clash. TTR mostly aims to replicate the original experience, while TTCC has a new taskline, leveling system, new gag track, reworked gags, new cog type, and many other changes and additions.
I think tag toontown online is sufficient, even if it may not be factually correct in some cases: some fanart shows species and characters who didn’t exist in the original game, e.g. bats and deer. TTCC team is also working on properly animated toon heads with a system that would allow players to mix and match head parts, though that was teased in 2023 and there’s still no ETA for this update.
I’ve also been thinking: animals in TT have no tails, which kinda bothers me. If an animal is expected to have a visible tail but doesn’t (especially when they show off their butt to you), do you think such cases should be tagged with no tail or something similar?
