I know the category is called Shows and Movies, but it feels odd to separate video games, it’s still media discussion. Also there’s an official FNaF movie now, though I haven’t seen it.
. . .
The games have shown several different versions of Freddy, Chica, Bonnie and Foxy, and most versions are distinct enough. But then there are the withered animatronics (FNaF2), which are just older, broken versions of the classic animatronics (FNaF1), which makes me question if they would need their own tags if they were to appear here. Although I imagine the chances are pretty low, especially with Withered Bonnie, they tore his face off.
Also, while looking through FNAF fanart, I realised Mangle/Toy Foxy (FNaF2) and Funtime Foxy (Sister Location) may be impossible to distinguish when drawn as organic foxes instead of animatronics if there’s not enough context, because they’re both white with pink countershading, yellow eyes and a red bowtie. It also doesn’t help that the FNaF World version of Funtime Foxy looks more like a “fixed” Mangle/Toy Foxy than Funtime Foxy’s actual design (which has plated casing, a loudspeaker in the chest and no hook hand).
There’s also discourse on whether Golden Freddy and Fredbear should be considered the same character, but it seems to have to do with lore and I sadly don’t care enough to research that (especially with the official books, I’m not the reading type). Maybe I should just avoid posting art related to him/them so I don’t have to think about it.
Springtrap and Spring Bonnie are a much simpler case. Spring Bonnie is a yellow rabbit springlock suit animatronic, it could perform on its own like a robot, but it could also be worn as a suit by an adult man, but it was hazardous. Springtrap is an undead entity: a decayed Spring Bonnie that one day malfunctioned and impaled the serial murderer William Afthon who was wearing it, his corpse is still inside and his soul is possessing the animatronic. While playing YT videos discussing FNaF lore in the background, I heard something about William wanting to be immortal. Well, I suppose he got what he wanted?
