Description
Dungeons & Dramon - Lady Charm
More commonly known by her name in the church, Deacon Martini.
Leader of the Church of Disaster on Cloud Continent, and interim Mayor of Oasis after the disappearance of their actual mayor, Silver Barb, some months ago. She’s also Jean’s adoptive mother, and has the same voice as Doctor Girlfriend from Venture Bros for reasons unknown to me.
Despite the name, the Church of Disaster isn’t what it sounds like. Members of this organization actually study disasters religiously in order to protect against future harm, learning to see the warning signs earns and training their members to deal with these situations. This ends up being the source of the plot that gets our campaign underway as Jean, an adherent of the Church, is assigned to the study and protection of an ancient artifact recently discovered deep in the tunnels below the continent. A holy device crafted by Yggdrassil’s will to prevent disaster.

Martini sends Jean off with it to explore the continent and figure out how it works, hoping he would fill it and evolve and return to Oasis to replace her as the city’s leader, but I don’t think she really anticipated him making friends that would convince him to stop being so self-sacrificing and try to live his own life, or how ferociously they would protect him from anyone who tried to tell him otherwise.
Fun Facts about Martini:
She adopted Jean off the streets when he was ballsy enough to steal her personal sermon book.
She’s never had children of her own because Silver Barb terrified her with stories of the X-Program for decades, and still worries about overpopulation.
She’s secretly in love with the archangel that heads the church, Cherubimon.
[s]It’s mutual and he almost levelled Oasis to find the culprit when he thought she’d been murdered.[/s]
