Furries typically tend to be first on the scene when it comes to new social media platforms. I remember the first time I set up a Live Journal account, the person who invited me / told me about it was of course another Furry, and there were absolutely TONS of furries using LJ for their blogging and networking purposes.

Then LJ gradually lost relevance and Myspace was the hot trendy thing for a bit, until Facebook. Ahhh, but Facebook had a caveat -- they started to enforce a "Real Names Only" policy, which meant that if you had a silly name like say "Kitsune Baka" -- the FB mods would flag your account and scream THAT'S NOT YOUR REAL NAME, WE WANNA SEE A PHOTO OF YOUR GOVERNMENT I.D. OR WE WON'T LET YOU BACK INTO YOUR ACCOUNT.

That was the first sign to me that Anonymity was dying. Facebook wants everything you do to be tied to your real identity, and Furries typically do not like using their Real Names online... way too easy to get stalked that way.... There was -- at one point, an attempt by someone to create a Furry clone of Facebook called "Fur Gather" but it wasn't around for very long, the project runner eventually called it quits and just gave up on it despite a fair number of people showing interest.

Twitter -- as far as I know -- never tried to pull a Facebook and demand you use your actual real name, but ever since Elon took over it's just gotten worse and worse. Bluesky has tried to swoop in and fill the void, but as soon as it got popular enough for the Normies to join it, they've added more and more stupid restrictive rules to satisfy the migrating influx of Normies and their silly beliefs about "Problematic" Fiction....

TeleGram is alright, but that's not really a Public Social Network, it's more akin to a fancier version of ICQ for the modern times... TeleGram also has its own set of problems, like the fact you are REQUIRED to sign up with a Phone Number, which may as well be the same as handing over your I.D. to Mark Robo-Zerg...
